Close by is Penzance town centre with its variety of shops, galleries
and places of interest. Nearby Newlyn - England's largest fishing
port, is only a couple of miles along the promenade and pathway,
with the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole a further few
miles on. Further west along the Cornish Coastal Footpath is Lamorna
Cove. This rocky wild cove is a favourite with artists and is
perfect for walkers and bird watchers. Continuing westwards on
the Coastal Path takes you to Porthcurno, with the famous Minack
Theatre, and onwards to Lands End, mainland Britain's furthermost
south-westerly point.
By car Mousehole, Sennen Cove, Marazion, St Michael's Mount, Lands
End, the Minack Theatre, the Lizard (designated an area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty) and the Tate Gallery in St Ives, are all easily
reached. The Eden project is just over one hour away. The Isles
of Scilly can be visited by boat, plane or helicopter leaving
from Penzance or Lands End.
The surrounding area abounds with ancient sites such as Lanyon
Quoit, Merry Maidens and Carn Euny Iron Age Village. |
